Dr. Victor Fries, better known as Mr. Freeze, is a prominent villain in DC Comics, primarily associated with Batman. A brilliant cryogenics expert, Fries's life took a tragic turn when his beloved wife, Nora, contracted a terminal illness. Desperate to save her, he placed her in cryogenic stasis, hoping for a future cure.
During an accident in his lab, Fries was exposed to cryogenic chemicals, altering his body to require sub-zero temperatures to survive. He was forced to wear a specialized suit to maintain this temperature. The accident also stunted his emotional range, leaving him cold and calculating.
Driven by his love for Nora and his need to survive, Mr. Freeze often resorts to criminal activities, using his cryogenic technology to steal and fund his research. While his methods are villainous, his motivation stems from a deep love and a desperate hope to save his wife.
